Description

These are early 19th-century frontages applied to earlier buildings at numbers 63 and 65 High Street. The three-storey structures are built of brick with a moulded stucco cornice and band. They have three windows each, with rusticated lintels above hung sash windows containing glazing bars. The ground floor was rebuilt with two windows of three lights, also with cement rusticated lintels. A centre passage provides access to two doorways, flanked by attached Tuscan columns. One upper room in number 63 retains an Adam-style fireplace. Number 65 has a three-storey bow window to the rear elevation. Numbers 29 to 35 (odd), 35A, 37 to 69 (odd), 73 to 93 (odd) form a group, and numbers 37 to 41 (odd) are considered of local interest.
