Description

Rectory Farmhouse is a brick farmhouse, rendered and dated to the mid-to-late 18th century, with later alterations. It is situated just off the north side of Church Side, Easington. The building is L-shaped, originally comprising a two-room front with a central entrance hall and a single-room wing, with a later extension added to the rear left. It is two storeys high with an attic and has a symmetrical three-bay south front. A stepped entrance leads to a recessed door with six fielded panels above a three-pane overlight, set within an architrave that has an ashlar hood supported by brackets with roundel ornament. The windows are 12-pane sashes in flush wooden architraves, with the exception of a 20th-century casement window on the ground floor left, which replaces an original window. A cogged brick eaves cornice runs along the roofline, and tumbled brickwork is visible on the raised gables. The end stacks include one that has been rebuilt. The left return shows sashes with rubbed brick flat arches above. Inside, the open-well staircase has a corniced handrail, plain newels, column-on-vase balusters, and square knops.
