Description

Old Hall, also known as Skeffling Hall, is a manor house built in 1717, with extensions added in the early 19th century and some reductions made around 1930. It was constructed for Edward Bee and features red brick with painted brick dressings and pantile roofs, while the rear wing has a Welsh slate roof. The house has three brick chimney stacks and is two storeys high.

The main south front includes a doorway on the right with a moulded wooden door surround and a pulvinated hood, leading to a four-panelled door. To the left, there are three glazing bar sash windows with painted lintels, and above them, four single glazing bar sashes with similar lintels. A painted band runs above, topped by a tall brick parapet with moulded stone coping.

On the west front, there is an off-centre doorway with a slightly projecting porch. To the right, there is a small window and a glazing bar sash. To the left, a pair of glazing bar sashes is followed by a small doorway and another window. Above, two central glazing bar sashes are flanked by single tall narrow windows, with smaller windows beyond. A further small window is located in the gable to the right. The east front of the rear wing features a single-storey lean-to addition with double garage doors.

Inside, the hall retains a stone flagged floor and wooden dado panelling. The interior also has moulded door frames and panelled doors, with windows featuring similar moulded surrounds and panelled shutters. A fine early 18th-century wooden staircase with barley-sugar turned balusters adds to the house's character.
