Description
Elstronwick Hall is a house built in the mid-18th century, with significant extensions added in the late 19th century. The original structure is made of brown brick in English garden wall bond, topped with slate roofs, while the later extensions are constructed from red brick with stone dressings and also feature slate roofs.
The original house consists of two storeys and four bays, arranged in a 1:1:2 pattern, with a continuous rear outshut and a rear wing. The entrance features a four-panel door with an overlight that has Gothick glazing, set beneath a cambered wedge lintel. The windows are tripartite sashes with glazing bars and sills, also under cambered wedge lintels. On the first floor, there is a 12-pane sash window with a sill beneath a cambered wedge lintel above the door, flanked by tripartite sashes on either side.
The right bay of the original house has been re-fronted in the late 19th century. The building has end and axial stacks and raised gables. The late 19th-century extensions to the right are noted as not being of special interest.
