Description

This monument, located about 500 metres south-west of The Wold Cottage, was built in 1799 for Charles Topham. It is constructed of brick with stone dressings and features a square pillar that has a plinth and a stepped cornice beneath a pyramidal cap. The original stone capping is nearby. The monument was erected to commemorate the fall of a meteorite in 1795, which weighed 56 pounds and is now housed in the Natural History Museum in South Kensington.
