Description
Pear Tree Farmhouse is a farmhouse that was originally built in the 18th century and remodelled in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of coursed chalk rubble, which is rendered except for the right end wall, and sits on stone footings. The building features stone dressings, a timber eaves cornice, a pantiled roof, and brick stacks.
The farmhouse has a central direct entry with a rear outshut and is two storeys high with a symmetrical three-window front. It has a stone plinth and stone quoins. The main door, which is from the 20th century, is set in a pilastered doorcase with an elliptical head and is accompanied by a 20th-century porch. The ground floor windows are 4-pane sashes with stone sills and channelled lintels that have raised key-blocks, while the first-floor windows are also 4-pane sashes with stone sills. The eaves cornice is bracketed, and there are end stacks with plain close verges.
