Description
The Anvil Arms Public House and the adjoining cottage on the left date from the early 19th century, with later extensions added to the rear. The building is constructed of brick, rendered, and features pantile roofs. It stands two storeys high and has eight windows on the first floor. The Anvil Arms has a main entrance with a door made of six raised and fielded panels set in a plain wood surround. On either side of the door are 16-pane sash windows in plain surrounds with stone sills. The first floor includes a 4-pane sash window above the door, while the other windows are sliding sashes with glazing bars and stone sills. The cottage to the left has a boarded main door and a boarded half-door for a service entrance to the left. The ground floor has four 20th-century windows with glazing bars and stone sills, while the first floor features four sliding sashes with glazing bars and stone sills in plain surrounds, along with a small 20th-century window with glazing bars to the right. The building has end and axial stacks, with a hipped roof on the left and a gable with oversailing eaves on the right.
