Description
This is a cross located approximately 6 metres south of the Church of St Helen. It likely dates from the 14th to 15th century and features an 18th to 19th-century sundial. The cross is made of limestone ashlar and consists of a stump of a tapered chamfered shaft with elongated broach stops, set on an octagonal drum pedestal that also has broach stops and a square base. At the top, there is a brass sundial inscribed with "G BROWN." The overall height of the cross is approximately 1.6 metres. It may originally have been a churchyard cross from Beverley or a wayside cross that was moved in the mid-18th century from the East or Cross Green in the village.
