Description
This is a barn and adjoining stable/granary built in the mid-18th century, located approximately 160 metres north-west of Bleak House Farmhouse. The barn is constructed from coursed cobbles with brick dressings, while the stable/granary is made of brick. Both structures have a pantiled roof and are rectangular in shape. The barn has two storeys and consists of four bays, while the stable/granary has a single bay.
On the south side, the barn features quoins, a door to the right beneath a timber lintel, and a pair of slit breathers to the left, with a similar pair above. The stable/granary has a segmental-headed door, four slit breathers at the first-floor level, and a blocked hatch above. The raised gables show tumbled-in brickwork. The left gable end of the barn has pairs of breathers on each floor and a hatch in the gable. The right gable end of the stable/granary has a 6-pane window in a former segmental-headed first-floor door, which is blocked below. The north side of the building is similar to the south side.
