Description

This is a terrace of five houses located at 9 to 17 Pool Bank, built in 1894 by William Owen. The houses are constructed of brick with a pebbledash first floor and feature a tiled roof. They are two storeys high and consist of five bays, with the end bays projecting under gables, and the second and fifth bays also projecting under gables. The terrace has a weathered base, a ground floor entablature, and open-pedimented gables.

The ground floor windows have gauged-brick flat arches and keys, with paired sash windows that include glazing bars. The end bays feature canted bay windows, also with sashes. On the first floor, there are Diocletian windows with small-paned casements, and the third and fourth bays have paired sashes, with those in the third bay located in half-gabled half dormers that abut a lateral stack with round-headed panels.

The entrances have flat canopies supported by Tuscan columns, and each house has a six-panel door. The terrace includes four cross-axial stacks and two stacks located in the valleys. The rear of the houses is similar in style, featuring gables, dormers, and privies.
