Description

This is a terrace of eight houses located on Queen Mary's Drive in Port Sunlight. They were built in 1913 by J. Lomax Simpson. The houses are constructed of brick with a roughcast tile roof.

The terrace is two storeys high and eight bays wide, with two bays at each end that project forward beneath paired, asymmetrical gables. The gables have jettied apexes and decorative strapwork pargetting. A seventh bay features a half-hipped, coved gable, and the end bay breaks forward. The houses have a brick base to sill level and a brick central section. A drip mould and string course run through the centre, above the ground floor.

The windows are small-paned casements. The ground floor windows are four-light, with the first two bays also featuring transoms. The first-floor windows are similarly four-light, with the central two bays containing five-light canted oriels featuring a central arched detail. The first bay has a three-light window with a transom, while the end bay has a four-light canted oriel with a transom and pargetted base. Entrance canopies are flat, and doors have small-paned lights. Decorative rainwater heads are also present.

The returns have porches beneath cat-slide roofs, supported by fluted antae on low walls. There are four cross-axial stacks. The rear elevation has a roughcast first floor, similar to the front.
