Description
This is a terrace of five houses located at 148 to 156 New Chester Road in Port Sunlight, built in 1899 by H.A. Matear. The houses are constructed of brick with a plaster first floor and feature a half-hipped tile roof. They are two storeys tall and consist of seven bays, with the third bays having an attic space under paired asymmetrical gables. The first floor includes brick strips and a band leading to the attic.
On the ground floor, there are segmental-headed windows with triple sashes that have upper glazing bars. The first floor features three-light small-paned casements, while the second and fifth bays have paired lights. The third and fourth bays are distinguished by two-storey canted four-light oriel windows beneath tile-hung projecting gables. The paired entrances are covered by flat canopies and have plank doors with glazing on the sides.
There are two cross-axial stacks, and the left return has a lateral stack, with both returns featuring entrances. The rear of the building is similar to the front, with a gabled attic and privies.
