Description

This is a shelter located to the west of the causeway leading to Fort Perch Rock in New Brighton, built probably in the late 19th century. It is made of cast iron and has a rectangular plan with canted ends. The structure is supported by round columns that feature ornate capitals and open work spandrels. The hipped roof is adorned with an entablature that includes a fringing of pendants and anthemion acroteria at the corners. Inside, there are partitions with benches and screens, although most of these have been filled with translucent plastic.
