Description

This is a shelter located opposite the end of Waterloo Road in New Brighton, probably built in the late 19th century. It has a rectangular plan with canted ends and is constructed from cast iron. The structure is supported by round columns that feature ornate capitals and open work spandrels. The hipped roof is adorned with an entablature that includes a fringing of pendants and anthemion acroteria at the angles. Inside, there are partitions with benches and screens, although these are now mostly filled with translucent plastic.
