Description

This house dates from around 1836 and is constructed with ashlar facing, with a rusticated ground floor. It has a hipped roof covered in Welsh slate. The design is Neo-Classical. Originally a symmetrical three-unit house with a central entrance, it was later extended to become a two-storey, four-window building. The front entrance is a six-panelled door with an overlight and margin lights, positioned within a shallow, pedimented porch. Flanking the door are renewed 12-pane sash windows within architraves that mirror the pediment above the doorway. The house has grouped axial chimney stacks and a stack on the original end wall. Although subsequently altered, it is an important part of the original Rock Park development, which was laid out by Jonathan Bennison in 1836.
