Description

Swiss Bridge is a footbridge over a lake in Birkenhead Park, built around 1843 to 1847 but extensively renewed since. It features a combination of timber and stone, topped with a tiled roof. The bridge has stone abutments and a timber main structure, with a panelled parapet that is decorated with scallops, chevrons, and bulls eyes. There are wooden railings on the steps on each side. The red tiled roof is supported by wooden columns with four-way bracing and includes ridge cresting.
