Description

No. 4 Caroline Place is a house built around 1845, likely designed by Charles Reed. It is constructed of brick and features a Welsh slate roof. The building has two storeys and a symmetrical three-window front with a central entrance. This entrance is highlighted by a painted pedimented gabled porch that includes a segmental archway and a six-panelled door. The windows are two-pane sashes set within moulded architraves, and the upper windows have balconettes with cast-iron railings supported by brackets. The eaves project and are also supported by brackets, and there are chimney stacks at the end walls. This house is part of the original development at Claughton, which was laid out by Charles Reed for Sir William Jackson.
