Description
This is a terrace of four houses at 1-7 Wood Street, Bebington, dating from 1894 and designed by William Owen as part of the Port Sunlight estate. The houses are built of brick with stone dressings and have a tile roof. They are one storey high with an attic, and four bays wide. A drip mould runs over the ground floor windows. There's a weathered buttress in the center of the facade, and the timber-framed gables are decorated with bargeboards. The windows are single-chamfered-mullioned, with small panes. Ground-floor windows have segmental relieving arches and four lights, while first-floor windows, located in gabled half-dormers, have three lights. The two central dormers are paired. Tile canopies shelter the plank front doors. The returns of the houses have tile-hung gables and entrances. The rear elevation is similar in style, and includes privies.
