Description
A terrace of eight houses built in 1906 by Grayson and Ould, located on Circular Drive in Port Sunlight, and including numbers 2, 4, and 6 Pool Bank. The houses are constructed with pebbledash rendering, brick dressings, and a tile-hung first floor with fishscale bands. The roof is timber-framed and tile-covered. The design is two storeys, with five bays facing Circular Drive and six bays facing Pool Bank. The second and third bays project forward under gables, while the fourth bay significantly projects under a gable with a jettied first floor. A brick base runs along the ground floor of the second, third, and fourth bays. Most ground floor windows are sash windows with gauged-brick flat arches and glazing bars. The first bay has a five-light canted oriel window, and the fourth bay has a two-light window with a transom and cornice; both have small-paned casements. The first floor windows also have small-paned casements. The first bay's window is located within a half-dormer with a central gablet. The second and third bays feature a five-light window with a central segmental-headed light, and the fourth bay has a six-light leaded casement. Entrances to numbers 22 and 24 are sheltered by canopies swept out from the tile hanging, while the entrance to number 26 is recessed and arched with brick. All entrances have half-glazed doors with three panels and leaded lights. The angle bay has an ogival roof and two-light first floor windows. The Pool Bank facade features a gambrel roof and projecting gabled end bays. The first bay has a keyed round light on the ground floor, two-light windows above, a three-light canted oriel, and a seven-light window with round-headed three-panel doors. The rear elevation is similar, with roughcast half-dormers. Two cross-axial stacks are present.
