Description

This is a house, part of the original Prenton Hall Farmhouse. It dates back to the 17th century, with significant remodelling in the later 18th century. The construction is of roughly coursed and squared sandstone, with some roughcast render, and it has a Welsh slate roof. The building has two storeys, and its original layout was altered during remodelling and subdivision. The front features paired gables facing the street, with a central entrance. A four-panelled door is topped by an entablature supported on brackets; it is flanked by a 16-pane sash window with a flat arched head to the left, and an earlier four-light window with ovolo moulded mullions to the right. The jambs and possible remains of earlier window heads are visible behind the existing windows. Two 16-pane sash windows are on the first floor, with a continuous string course defining the paired gables, each of which has an oculus. Stone coping is on the right-hand gable. An axial brick stack is located between the two gables. A more modern entrance has been inserted into the return elevation, along with several other inserted windows. The remainder of the original Prenton Hall is located to the east.
