Description

The South Bridge over Serpentine Lake in the Botanic Gardens is a footbridge, likely built around 1876. It is constructed from brick and cast iron, featuring a wooden deck. The horizontal bridge is supported by brick piers at each end and in the center, with cast-iron I-beams and panelled cast-iron posts at both ends and the center. It is adorned with ornamental cast-iron openwork balustrades. This bridge forms a group with the Museum and Fern House, and it matches the North Bridge.
