Description

The Victoria Hotel is a public house located on Great George's Road in Crosby. It was likely built around 1840 and has undergone some alterations. The building features painted roughcast render with sandstone dressings and a slate roof with rendered chimneys, designed in an L-shape on a corner site.

The exterior consists of three storeys with a two-window gabled front, complemented by a two-storey, two-window side wing on the right. The gabled section has a painted plinth and painted quoining. The taller part has three ground floor windows with moulded architraves and altered glazing, while the upper floors contain two sashed windows each, with matching architraves. The first-floor windows have 16 panes, and those on the second floor have short 6 panes. A long signboard between the floors displays the name "VICTORIA HOTEL," and there is a draped roundel in the gable.

The right wing features three short ground floor windows with altered glazing and two 16-pane sashes above, all with moulded architraves. This wing also includes square-headed doorways with pilaster jambs and pediments on consoles. The left side of the building, facing Bath Street, has a three-window range with a one-window extension at the rear. It features a doorway in the second bay, which has been altered to a window, and windows similar to those at the front, including a 16-pane sash on the right and a 9-pane sash on the left at the first floor. The second floor has three 6-pane sashes, while the others have altered glazing. A large multiple-flue ridge chimney is located at the junction with the extension.

The Victoria Hotel forms a group with the Royal Hotel at No.30 on Bath Street, which is situated on the opposite corner.
