Description
The building is a Post Office constructed in 1905. It is made of brick with stone dressings and has a slate roof. The central section consists of three bays that are two storeys high with an attic, flanked by one-storey blocks with six and four bays. The stone base features flush bands and flush stone quoin strips. The central bay has a cornice, and the angles of the flanking bays are also detailed.
On the ground floor, there are Diocletian windows with rusticated voussoirs, keystones, and segmental open pediments. All windows are sashed with glazing bars. The first floor features round-headed windows arranged in a 3:1:3 pattern, each with eared architraves and triple keystones. The central bay's window is flanked by engaged Ionic columns, and above it is an open pediment containing a dated cartouche, with a parapet above. The flanking bays have coped gables with round windows adorned with swags below and triple keystones. The end bays also feature Diocletian windows and segmental parapets.
Other bays have windows set in architraves with triple keystones, some of which are paired. The central entrance is round-headed, flanked by rusticated stone piers and voussoirs, topped with a segmental open pediment. Above the entrance is a plaque that reads 'POST OFFICE'. The entrances to the fifth and twelfth bays have architraves and small-paned overlights with triple keystones.
