Description
The War Memorial at the Church of All Saints is a memorial dedicated to those who fell in the Great War from 1914 to 1919. It is made of red sandstone and features a cross that rises from an octagonal ashlar plinth. There is a decorative collar between the cross and its shaft. The front of the cross head is adorned with a carved laurel wreath. The base of the memorial has an inscription that reads "LEST WE FORGET. In memory of those who fell in the Great War 1914-1919." Additionally, the lower part of the base includes the phrases "God is Our Refuge and Strength" and "This cross was erected by the Friends of St Mary's Church Edgehill." The memorial is significant for marking the end of the war in 1919, even though the conflict officially ended with the Armistice on November 11, 1918.
