Description

The property comprises two houses, incorporating a late 13th-century cruck building with subsequent alterations from the 15th, 16th, 17th, and modern periods. It originally served as a grange of Stanlaw Abbey. The front facade is constructed of red sandstone and features new windows and dormers with segmental arched heads. The first bay has a three-light mullioned window on the staircase. A timber lean-to roof covers an external stone staircase on the right-hand side (The Granary), which leads to an old studded door at the top. It is reported that an older stone mullioned window is located at the rear. While fragments of the building may date back to 1291, the building’s current appearance is largely modernised.
