Description
Mere Bank Public House is a public house dated 1881, constructed from brick, terracotta, timber, and plaster, with a slate roof. The building is richly ornamented and stands two storeys high with six bays, including a canted corner bay and two bays facing Mere Lane. The ground floor features mullioned and transomed windows, with round windows above them. Terracotta panels between the windows display carvings of sunflowers, birds, and flowers, all with layers of paint. The central entrance is arched, and there is an altered entrance at the corner. The upper part of the building is half-timbered with pargeted panels, and it includes mullioned and transomed windows with cusped lights. The steeply pitched slate roof has a domed louvre and a gable over the angle, along with three gables over the centre of the main front, which emphasize the pointed arched doorway flanked by two standing statues above the upper windows. There is also a date plaque on the return to Mere Lane.
