Description

Two houses, numbers 46 and 48 Fieldway, were built around 1914 by G. L. Sutcliffe. They are brick structures, with some areas finished in roughcast, and have tile roofs. The houses are semi-detached and symmetrically arranged. Each house has one bay and features paired doorways with central side lights. The windows are small-paned casements, and the ground-floor doors are half-glazed, set beneath flat hoods. The first-floor windows are tall pairs of lights within half-dormers, flanked by lower windows. The gables of the dormers are clad in weatherboarding. The roof is steeply hipped, with lateral and a central stack positioned slightly towards the rear. A round-headed brick archway connects the buildings to number 50. These houses represent a modestly altered example of those found within the Wavertree Garden Suburb and are situated adjacent to the central block of the main square.
