Description

A terrace of eight houses, numbers 20 to 32 Percy Street, with an additional three-bay section at number 1 Huskisson Street, was built around 1830. The buildings are constructed of stone with a slate roof. The terrace is three storeys high with a basement. Each house typically features two bays, though number 20 has three bays, with the first three bays forming a return to number 1 Huskisson Street. A sill band is present at the first floor level, along with a top frieze, cornice, and blocking course. The end three bays project forward, with the ground floor rusticated and the first floor featuring a pilastrade with flat pilasters. The attic storey has pilasters with a Greek fret design. The windows are sash windows, the majority with glazing bars; first-floor windows have architraves. The entrances have flat architraves with Greek fret ornament flanked by angle pilasters, along with friezes and cornices, panelled four-panel doors, and complete overlights. Iron railings are present to the areas and steps, with spear heads, and first-floor iron balconies are incorporated. Number 22 lacks a balcony, while numbers 24 and 30 do not have glazing bars in their overlights. Number 1 Huskisson Street has a rusticated ground floor and an enclosed porch, with paired pilasters to the upper floors. The terrace is considered a fine example of its type and contributes significantly to the character of one of the city's best streets.
