Description

The gatekeeper's hut, located at the pierhead south of the dock entrance, was possibly built in 1832. It is constructed of stone and features an octagonal shape with deep eaves and a corbelled roof topped with a stone finial. The hut has seven windows and an entrance that lacks frames. Additionally, there is attached machinery and a tin flue on the urn finial. The Brunswick dock, where this hut is situated, also dates from 1832 and was the first dock work of J. Hartley.
