Description
The building is a former stable block and coach house, dating to 1865 and designed by Sir G. G. Scott. Originally part of Cleveley (now demolished), it comprises three ranges of buildings forming three sides of a yard. The east range, parallel to the road, is two storeys high and four bays wide, with projecting gables on the end bays. The ground floor has a drip mould, and the building features ashlar flush quoins and window surrounds. The end bays contain two-light windows, with a first-floor door on the right-hand side. The north range includes a clock tower with gabled clock faces (removed by 1984), a louvred bell stage, and a short spire. A stable block is located on the west range. A coach’s shelter, situated in the north-east angle of the yard, features a hipped roof supported by ironwork.
