Description
No. 37A and 39 on Shaw Street are two houses built in the 1830s. They are constructed of brick with stone dressings and feature a slate roof. Each house has three storeys and a basement, with three bays. There is a basement lintel band and a sill band at the first floor level, along with a top frieze, cornice, and blocking course. The windows have wedge lintels and are sashed with glazing bars, although each house has one blind window on the second floor. The entrances are framed by Ionic aedicules without pediments. There are iron area railings and iron balconies on the first floor. No. 37A has a 20th-century bowed window on the ground floor, while No. 39 features anthemion heads on its railings, although part of its balcony is missing.
