Description
Barclay's Bank was built in 1800 as a private bank for Arthur Heywood and Sons Ltd. The building is made of stone and has three storeys with five bays. The ground floor features rusticated stonework. It has a stringcourse, an eaves cornice, and a blocking course. The windows have recessed reveals, with semi-circular heads on the ground floor and glazing bars, except for the ground floor. The side elevation facing Fenwick Street has similar architectural details, but now has two windows on the first floor flanking a blocked window. There are an additional three bays set back, with window arrangements similar to those on Brunswick Street.
