Description
The presbytery to the Church of Saint Anne is a building likely constructed between 1888 and 1889 by the architectural firm Pugin and Pugin. It is made of rock-faced stone with ashlar dressings and features a slate roof. The structure stands three storeys tall with an attic and consists of three bays. The first bay projects under a gable and has a return bay. The building includes weathered sill bands and a top cornice. It has cross windows, and the first bay features a two-storey canted oriel with a projecting window above and a two-light pointed window in the gable. There are also two timber roof dormers. An enclosed porch with a pierced parapet leads to the entrance, which has a four-centred head with a three-light fanlight and flanking cross windows. The right return of the building has buttresses with canopied niches and an end stack. A two-storey connecting block with a canted oriel and a projecting baptistry, which has a straight-headed window of three lights with reticulated tracery, links this presbytery to Saint Anne's Church.
