Description
The stables to Calderstones House, built around 1828, are now used as cottages and stores. This stone stable block features two storeys and has nine bays. The central three bays project forward, with the central bay and the ends of the flanking bays also breaking forward. The building is adorned with a top frieze, cornice, and blocking courses.
The first and last three bays have windows flanking segmental-headed recesses; the left side has a window, while the right side has two segmental-headed entrances with overlights. The first-floor windows include a central lunette, and all windows are sashed with glazing bars, while the lunettes have small-paned casements. The central three bays contain segmental-headed openings with impost bands, and the flanking openings feature 20th-century glazing and doors. A sill band runs along the first floor between the ends and the two lunettes. The former stables are located at the rear of the building.
