Description
1 Water Street and 2 Castle Street is a shop built in 1882 for goldsmith Robert Jones. The building features banded stone with granite facing and a red tiled roof. It has four storeys and an attic, with one bay facing Castle Street and four bays facing Water Street. The ground floor includes rectangular wooden bays with copper glazing bars. The design incorporates Renaissance details, with panelled pilasters beside each first-floor window, wrought iron balconies flanking the second-floor windows, and stone balconies. The third floor is designed as a colonnade, featuring round-headed lights in each bay and recesses in between, along with iron balconies. The building is topped with a rich cornice, varied dormers, and large panelled stacks.
