Description
No. 2 Derby Street is an early 19th-century office building. It features a stucco exterior on a stone base and has a hipped slate roof. The building is one storey high and consists of three bays, with the central bay being bowed. The base includes flat pilasters paired at the central bay, along with a frieze, cornice, and blocking course. The windows are sashed with glazing bars, and the central window is tripartite. To the right, there is a recessed porch that has a frieze, cornice, and a gabled blocking course; the entrance features an eared architrave and a six-panel door. The left side of the building has additional sashed windows. There are three cross-axial stacks, and a later extension has been added to the rear. This building is a rare and interesting example of a purpose-built solicitor's office.
