Description
Rossall School Chapel was built in 1861 and designed by architect E G Paley. The chapel is constructed of hammer-dressed stone with ashlar dressings and features a pitched slate roof. It consists of a nave, two transepts, a chancel, a south-east vestry, and a north-west porch. An octagonal bell tower with a conical roof rises above the structure, which is adorned with a parapet and buttresses.
The nave includes four two-light windows with bar tracery and hoodmoulds, while the chancel has two two-light windows. The other windows are more elaborate, with three-light windows at the transept terminals, a four-light window at the west end, and a five-light window at the east end. The porch beneath the tower features a two-centred arch with a hoodmould, and the porch on the north transept terminal has a cusped two-centred arch with a hoodmould. The bell openings are designed as wired cusped lancets with two-centred super-arches.
Inside, the chapel contains late 19th-century carved stalls and pews.
