Description
The west range of the quadrangle at Rossall School was built around 1885-1890 by architects E G Paley, K J Austin, and E G Paley Junior. This building is similar in style to the east range and is symmetrically designed around a three-storey gabled bay, which is flanked by two-storey canted bay windows. At the north end, this range connects to the north range, featuring two ground floor canted bay windows. The south end has an extension that creates a T-shaped plan, with the east end containing a two-storey gabled extension and an additional two-storey canted bay window. There is a passage leading to the west of the school, which is accessed through a two-bay arcade supported by a polished granite column with a moulded capital and chamfered two-centred arches.
