Description
The Old Vicarage is a farmhouse that was formerly a vicarage, built around 1840. It is constructed of red brick with some sandstone dressings and has a slate roof. The main part of the building faces south and features a rear wing that is set at right angles, with two parallel roofs. The south facade has two bays, which are recessed between pilaster strips, each topped with a brick corbel table below the eaves. The windows consist of two sashed lights separated by a chamfered mullion and are fitted with hoods. The gables have brick parapets with stone copings, and there are chimneys located between the bays and on the right-hand gable. The left-hand (west) gable wall has a central section that is recessed and features a triangular head. On the ground floor, there is a three-bay blank arcade with round stone arches and stone sills, which echoes the arcading on the nearby Church of St. John. The west wall of the rear wing has two recessed sections separated by a pilaster strip, with corbel tables under the eaves. The left section contains three adjacent round-headed windows, while the right section has a door with a stone surround and a round head.
