Description

The outbuilding located south-east of Brook House is a former wheelwright's shop, now used for storage. It likely dates from the 18th century, with some alterations made in the 19th century. The structure features walls made of brick, mud, and turf, topped with a corrugated iron roof over thatch. It is a single-storey building.

Originally, the building had three trusses supported by brick piers, which still exist, although the gables have been rebuilt with larger 19th-century bricks, as has the western half of the south-west (rear) wall. The north-east wall retains its turf infill and includes three windows with timber lintels and plain reveals. There is a smaller unglazed opening to the right of the left-hand window. The north-west gable features a sliding door and a window with plain reveals above it. A 19th-century extension of no architectural interest is attached to the south-east gable.

On the rear wall, the left-hand side has a door with plain reveals set within the 19th-century brick infill, while the right side retains turf and has a window flanked by two unglazed openings. Inside, there is one central upper cruck truss that reuses full crucks as principals. The purlins and ridge in the southern half have been renewed, while those in the northern half remain and feature windbrace slots. Curved windbraces extend from the truss to the ridge. Numerous beams span the building at eaves level but do not support a loft. At the northern end, four collars span the purlins.
