Description
This is a barn located to the north-west of Aspinalls Farmhouse, likely built in the 17th century. It has undergone alterations and was noted to be dilapidated at the north end during a survey in 1991. The structure is primarily made of coursed squared sandstone, with the south gable constructed of brick, and features a stone slate roof. The barn consists of five bays aligned on a north-south axis, situated on rising ground with shippons below and the barn above.
The east side, facing the road, appears to have been built in three sections and is somewhat bowed in the northern half. It includes a full-height waggon doorway in the fourth bay, a low doorway in the second bay, two small windows in the first bay, and a square loading door above these. The roof at the north end is damaged, with a sagging ridge and some missing stone slates. The south end of the barn is still in use as a shippon. There are large 20th-century additions on the west side. The interior has not been inspected.
