Description
Stone Cross is a cottage built in the late 18th century or early 19th century, with some alterations. It is constructed from brown and yellow brick in a Flemish bond pattern, featuring sandstone dressings and a stone slate roof. The building has a rectangular double-depth plan and an added annex on the left side.
It stands two storeys tall and has two windows on the first floor. The ground floor includes a narrow window in the centre, likely replacing a former doorway, and two large two-light casement windows, all with wedge lintels. The first floor has two 16-pane sashed windows with raised sills and exposed boxes. There is a gable chimney on the left side.
The annex, which is attached and set forward at the left corner, has openings inserted into the front and the left return side. The right-hand gable wall features a doorway and various windows, also with wedge lintels.
The garden wall, which is attached to the inner corner of the annex and extends along the right-hand end of the plot, is made of large stone slabs secured by diamond-shaped cast-iron plates.
