Description

The Gables is a former barn, likely dating from the 18th century, which was later remodelled in the 19th century and is now a house. It is constructed of coursed squared sandstone, with the upper floor using larger masonry, and has a stone slate roof and brick chimneys. The building has a double-depth plan with a rear extension, and it comprises two storeys and three windows. A doorway with a board door and overlight is located to the right, and there are three 12-pane sash windows at ground floor, with exposed window boxes. Three 4-pane sash windows are located on the first floor. A gable chimney and a ridge chimney are present. The left gable is pebble-dashed. The building forms a group with Cross View, which adjoins it to the right.
