WRIGHTINGTON OLD WASH LANE (off) SD 51 SW 5/110 Pair of gatepiers approx. 8 metres south of South Tunley Farmhouse and attached walls enclosing garden - GV II

Pair of gatepiers and garden walls. Probably c1700. Sandstone. Walls of rubble with half-round copings. The gateway, in line with the porch of South Tunley Farmhouse (q.v.), has quoined reveals surmounted by slim piers of square plan which have cornices and ball finials. The ball of the eastern pier was detached at time of survey (February 1987).
