Description

The farmhouse, likely built in the early 18th century, has a 19th-century addition to the rear which is not part of this listing. It is constructed of rendered brick with a stone plinth and stone dressings, and has a slate roof. The building follows a double-pile, two-bay plan. It is two storeys high and symmetrical, with gable chimney stacks, the one on the right being external and buttress-shaped. The ground floor has three sash windows; the left window is wider than the others. The first-floor centre window has been blocked, with the remaining windows being top-hung casements, all featuring glazing bars and stone sills.

Inside the main part of the house, there is a stone fireplace with shouldered jambs and a slightly arched head. The chimney breast has a pair of large, projecting stone brackets at ceiling level, which support a bressummer beam; the ends of the beam are ovolo-moulded, but the centre section is plain and jointed in at the brackets. Ovolo-moulded bridging beams are also found in the housepart and in the kitchen. A ground floor and two first-floor doors have shouldered panels. A dog-leg staircase features 17th-century-style splat balusters. The roof was raised in the 19th century but retains an earlier central truss and purlins. The original location of the entrance is not known.
