Description
Middleforth Hall is an early 18th-century farmhouse located back from the road on Factory Lane in Penwortham. The building is constructed of roughcast brick painted white, with stone dressings and a slate roof featuring gable chimneys—one of which is projecting while the other is corbelled. It has a double pile plan with two sets of two rooms. The house stands two storeys high with an attic and has an almost symmetrical façade. The entrance, which is slightly left of centre, features stone jambs and a lintel, along with a rectangular fanlight above. There are four sash windows with glazing bars at the ground floor and three above, all equipped with stone sills and splayed stone heads. The rear of the building includes an outshut to the left half, a central stairlight window, and three additional windows. Inside, the front ground floor rooms have chamfered beams, and the staircase is adorned with turned balusters, a moulded handrail, and rectangular newels.
