Description

The Duckworth monument, located about 10 metres south of the Church of St. James, is a tomb chest dedicated to Elizabeth, daughter of James Schofield and wife of Hugh Duckworth, who died in 1754 at the age of 19. The monument is made of dressed stone and features panelled sides. Its lid is lettered and includes some incised decorations, primarily two winged faces in a primitive style positioned between the dedication and the verses.
