Description
The structure is a bower attached to the west boundary wall of the grounds of Sunnyside, likely built in the late 18th century. It measures approximately 3 metres wide and 1 metre deep, constructed from dry-jointed flat sandstone. The bower features a stone bench along the rear wall, with a square nog-hole on each side. Near the top of the rear wall, there is a square datestone with raised lettering that reads "GREGORI. CHARLES 1691," complemented by a simple hoodmould and a cornice above the datestone. This bower is a notable feature in the area, similar to the datestone found at Ewood Hall in Haslingden, which bears the initials of Charles Gregory.
