Description
The Congregational Chapel, opened in 1816, is constructed from squared watershot sandstone and features a stone slate roof. It is two storeys high and has four bays. The windows have plain stone surrounds; the first-floor windows are modern, while the two ground-floor windows include margin lights. The doors, located in the outer bays, also have plain stone surrounds with projecting keystones and impost blocks, as well as fanlights with radiating glazing bars. The gutter is supported by rectangular stone brackets, and there are chimneys at each end of the building. At the rear, there are two windows with pointed heads.
Inside, the chapel has a gallery on three sides, which is supported by slim iron columns and features a panelled front along with box pews. The rear wall includes a niche positioned between the two pointed windows, and there is a raised podium with rails and stop-chamfered balusters. In front of the podium, at a lower level, are communion rails that share a similar design.
