Description

New House Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse that has been altered over time. It is constructed from sandstone rubble and features a slate roof. The building has a three-unit plan and stands two storeys high. There is a continuous drip course above the ground floor, which extends beyond the windows and is interrupted by a later gabled porch.

To the left of the porch, there is a double-chamfered surround that once framed a two-light window. To the right of the porch, a modern window with a sawn stone surround has been added. Further right, there is a blocked fire window with a chamfered surround, although its mullions have been removed.

On the first floor, to the left, there is another double-chamfered surround, along with two blocked chamfered stair windows situated above the porch. To the right of these, there is a double-chamfered surround and two additional chamfered surrounds further right. The right-hand gable features a five-light double-chamfered mullioned window on each floor, and to the left of this is a door with a plain stone surround made of long and short stones.

The left-hand gable has a three-light chamfered mullioned window on the ground floor and a similar one-light window on the first floor. At the rear of the farmhouse, there is an outshut attached to part of the wall. Each floor of the main house has a three-light double-chamfered mullioned window, with a blocked one-light chamfered window on each floor to the right, near the gable.
